A PREK to 8 CATHOLIC SCHOOL SINCE 1936

Grade 1 Religion

The main objective of Overbrook’s religion curriculum is to bring Christ and his teachings to the children. The curriculum accomplishes this task by focusing on the dignity of individual persons as an image of God, teaching basic knowledge of the Catholic faith, God’s word, and God’s love for each of us.

  • Students have the opportunity to participate in formal and spontaneous prayer through visits to the campus chapel, Friday Mass, and various classroom times.
  • Students learn about the Blessed Trinity by modeling the Trinity through arts and crafts projects.
  • Through creating books, drawings, and written responses students learn about the sacraments, the beatitudes, the Ten Commandments, and the mysteries of the rosary.
  • Students take a detailed look at the Mass, the Catholic Church, and formal prayers.
