The math curriculum continues to build on concepts mastered in second grade. Concepts covered in third grade include review of place value, money and time, and addition and subtraction facts. Students master multiplication and division facts, basic geometric shapes, and measurement. Students also begin to solve more complex problems through the use of diagrams, problem solving applications, and number relationships. The students also participate in the MathFacts program. This is a national contest whereby the students will take four tests a year and compete against students from other highly competitive schools.
