Academic excellence — it’s an every day occurrence at Overbrook. Our faculty and staff daily strive to provide the children with all they need to excel in school and in life. In 2009, 25 7th and 8th graders were inducted as new members of the National Junior Honor Society. (Click on the link to read more.) Twenty 7th graders qualified for the Duke Talent Identification Program. For the tenth time, our junior high has won first place in the Father Ryan Math Day. For 71 years Overbrook has been known for its high academic standards.
The preschool program, which is Overbrook’s entry level, includes instruction in a variety of stimulating topics. Kindergarten students are given an early mastery in the academic fundamentals. And students in the primary grades at Overbrook progressively build a solid foundation of academic skills and a love of learning, preparing them for success in the upper grades.
Middle school students are exposed to a diverse, well-rounded curriculum that builds upon previously acquired basic skills, while developing new ways of learning and thinking. Through the continuing development of study skills and good work habits, 4th and 5th graders are prepared for the rigorous junior high curriculum.
The Junior High program at Overbrook is a strong academic preparation for a college preparatory program at the high school level.
