Overbrook School is a member of the Nashville Consortium of Independent Schools, which includes St. Cecilia Academy, The Harpeth Hall School, Montgomery Bell Academy and University School of Nashville.

Overbrook joins with these schools in administering the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). This allows a student to apply to several schools and take only one test. All fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders wishing to apply to Overbrook must take the ISEE.

Taking the Independent School Entrance (ISEE) Exam

ISEE is a secure, standardized test which contains two ability sections — verbal and quantitative — two achievement sections, reading comprehension, mathematics achievement, and an essay question for seventh and eighth graders.

  • Test Fee: $95
  • Candidates must register at least three weeks prior to the date chosen.
  • The consortium encourages registration for the earliest possible test date.
  • If unmitigated circumstances cause you to miss the registration deadline for a particular date, you may call the Admissions Director at the desired test site to determine if a walk–in spot is available. If so, you must take your registration form and test fee (plus a late fee) to the test site by the designated time. Call the test site location for walk-in time.
  • The test takes approximately three hours. Students should arrive at 8:30 a.m. to check in. Testing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.
