Admissions is a year round activity focusing on recruitment of prospective students and their families to Overbrook School.
Admission to Overbrook is open to girls and boys entering grades PreK - 8.
Students applying for admission are required to take an entrance exam, submit teacher recommendations, and official transcripts. In addition, students are encouraged to come for a classroom visit. Interviews are required for students entering junior high grades 6 – 8. Junior high students have the opportunity to be placed in advanced math depending on their entrance test score, GPA and yearly-standardized test results. Algebra I is taught in 8th grade advanced math. All 8th grade students study high school Spanish I. Acceptance is based on the student’s ability to succeed in our program, previous school performance, and standardized test results - all of which help to establish a good fit for both the student and the school.
In keeping with the school philosophy and mission, effort is made to maintain a diverse student body and to provide new families opportunities for admission.
Overbrook administers a non-discriminatory policy of admission.
Prospective students are encouraged to experience the life of the school with a visit arranged through the Admissions Director. Parents should arrange to meet with our admissions director and are encouraged to attend our October or November Open House for Parents.
We look forward to welcoming many new families to Overbrook and encourage all members of the school community to refer prospective families to the school. We hold an Open House each year for new families, and welcome tour requests year round.
