Overbrook School's fall sports include Cross Country, Cheerleading, football and 5/6th grade volleyball.
More than 100 students participate in cross country at Overbrook each fall. It is the only sport where students from kindergarten through eighth-grade can participate on the same team. Overbrook hosts all four diocesan league meets on The Dominican Campus. Athletic Director Trey Edmondson coaches the team.
Overbrook fourth-sixth grade boys football team is a combined team with St. Matthew School. The seventh and eighth grade boys football team is a combined team with St. Matthew and St. Bernard.
VOLLEYBALL
Overbrook parents Tana Lewis and Kimberly Forrest coach the fifth- and sixth-grade volleyball teams . The girls learn the basics of the game: how to how to serve, bump and set and the rules of volleyball.
"Most of our practice focuses on serving and bumping and how to play the game", Coach Forrest said, adding that this team builds skills for future playing years.
Both Coach Forrest and Coach Lewis also coach the seventh- and eighth-grade team in the spring.
“We are thrilled to be back again coaching this team,” Coach Forrest said.
CHEERLEADING
The cheerleading squad looked great this past season with new uniforms and pompoms and a third-place trophy from the parochial league competition this fall at Father Ryan. They worked over the summer preparing for another great year. Overbrook mothers coach the team along with faculty liaison Pier Vaughn.
This year's diocesan cheerleading competition is set for Oct. 21, 2009, so mark your calendars and come to cheer on the cheerleaders!
