The Mission Statement of the
Overbrook School
Overbrook School is a private, Catholic, co-educational elementary school, preschool through eighth grade, owned and administered by the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation. Founded in 1936, Overbrook is committed to providing an atmosphere in which children can grow to their fullest potential in all areas: spiritual, intellectual, cultural, physical and social.
To accomplish this mission, the faculty and staff strive to:
- Permeate the students’ entire day with Christ so that He will be the source of their strength, the goal of their actions, and the center of their lives.
- Maintain a high standard of academic excellence and prepare students for higher levels of education, while acknowledging and providing for individual differences.
- Develop a positive self-concept in students, which will lead to recognition and acceptance of their personal talents and gifts.
- Enrich the lives of students through a comprehensive fine arts program.
- Instill in students the value of health, fitness and sportsmanship by providing a versatile physical education program.
- Teach the worth of each person and the right of all to dignity as creatures made in the image and likeness of God.
- Prepare students for the duties of good citizenship through development of character and leadership.
- Work closely with parents as we share the task of educating children in all phases of their development.
We strive to teach the worth of each person and the right of all to dignity as creatures made in the image and likeness of God.
