A PREK to 8 CATHOLIC SCHOOL SINCE 1936

The Philosophy of the Overbrook School

Since 1216, the Catholic Church has looked to the Order of Preachers to teach the Word of God to a world in need. St. Dominic embodies the teaching mission of the Church by the work of his order.

The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation have continued this mission of St. Dominic through their dedication to the Christian education of youth in institutions of learning. For over 145 years, St. Cecilia Congregation has owned and operated schools in which students come to a deeper understanding of their faith, their heritage, and their responsibilities as members of society.

The schools of the Dominican Campus exist primarily to enable students to learn in a Christ-centered atmosphere of love and truth. Overbrook School reflects the philosophy of the Catholic Church as it pertains to education. Each student is recognized as an individual of eternal worth whose immortal soul is destined for happiness with God.

Each child is called by God for a specific work. By nourishing the intellectual, physical, social and spiritual gifts of each student, Overbrook helps to prepare individuals for that work in view of their final end and the good of society.

We endeavor to nourish the intellectual gifts of our students and to develop their spiritual and physical potential.
