Overbrook School tailors its admissions process to several different entry levels because getting to know a prekindergarten applicant is a different task than getting to know a junior high student. Therefore, we have several different processes for admissions.
Prekindergarten is Overbrook’s main entry level. Our teachers, who have both been educating children for more than 25 years, run a Montessori-style classroom that tailors to each individual child’s entry level and advancement speed. Prekindergarten and kindergarten applicants visit and test in January of each year.

A paper application can also be obtained by stopping by our offices or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students applying for admission are required to:
- Take an entrance exam (for entry into grades 1-8)
- Request teacher recommendations and official transcripts and return to Overbrook at 4210 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205
- Visit the class they are applying to attend
- Have a personal interview for junior high grades 6 – 8
Acceptance is based on the student’s ability to succeed in our program, previous school performance, and standardized test results - all of which help to establish a good fit for both the student and the school. In keeping with the school philosophy and mission, effort is made to maintain a diverse student body and to provide new families opportunities for admission.
