Overbrook School Parent Association

The Parents’ Club is an association of all the parents of Overbrook School. The Club’s purpose is to coordinate and assist in the fundraising events for the benefit of Overbrook School. The Parents’ Club works closely with the Administration and the Executive Council to obtain fundraising goals. The monies from these fundraisers helps provide teacher’s Wish List items, tuition assistance, capital improvements and other miscellaneous requests presented to the Executive Council. The three major fundraisers sponsored by the Parents Club are: Sally Foster Wrapping Paper, Overbrook Basketball Classic and the Annual Auction and Dinner.

The Parents Club is guided by the Executive Council and the Principal of Overbrook School. The group consists of at least 15 members who are the parents of Overbrook students. Executive Council members serve a three year term. Members of the Executive Council are required to take an active role in the fundraising projects, assist in the development programs offered by the Council and approve the use of funds.

Parent Education Committee

The Overbrook School Parent Education Committee was established by the Parents Club Executive Council.  The committee’s purpose is to oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of educational programs designed for parents. Our Mission is to provide an ongoing series of programs that impart information, strategies and resources on parenting and family life within the context of the Dominican tradition of the Catholic faith. Our goals include: providing a variety of programs throughout the school year, encouraging parent, faculty and staff participation and involvement, and promoting the concepts of life-long learning, effective parenting and the Catholic faith.

Program offerings are designed in particular for OS parents. In addition, friends of OS parents as well as parents within the community are welcome to attend.

Committee members include the OS principal and guidance counselor, parents-at-large, parents serving on the Executive Council, and the Parents' Club president.

Parent feedback is critical to the success of this process. Parents are encouraged to contact a committee member with thoughts, suggestions or ideas. The committee seeks to build a strong network of parents to promote and enhance the services provided through parent education.

To maintain a joyful family requires much from both the parents and the children. Each member of the family has to become, in a special way, the servant of the    others.                                  Pope John Paul II
