A PREK to 8 CATHOLIC SCHOOL SINCE 1936

Welcome Overbrook Parents

Dear Overbrook Parents:

For the past 70 years Overbrook School has been committed to “. . . providing an atmosphere in which children can grow to their fullest potential in all areas: spiritual, intellectual, cultural, physical and social.” As parents we watch our children grow and try to give them the opportunities they need to have a well-rounded foundation for their life journey. Overbrook School is embarking on an aggressive five-year plan to enhance the educational environment our children are receiving. As parents I hope we are ready for the adventure and embrace it!

As a member of the Overbrook School Parent's Club every parent will be able to continue to grow spiritually, socially and intellectually with their peers. Two years ago, the Executive Council of Parents formed the social and educational committees to enhance a parent’s experience at Overbrook. Social events include the annual Parent’s Back To School Evening, the annual auction and Friday’s after Mass.

As parents we are always searching for new information about how to be more effective parents. The Parent Awareness/Educational Committee will offer a series of lectures this school year. The first lecture will take place in the fall. The second will be a panel discussion during Catholic School’s Week and the third will be in the spring. Information about each lecture will be published in the weekly Eagle.

In addition to volunteering at the school, the parents of Overbrook School help to the school with three major fundraisers: the Sally Foster Wrapping Paper Sale, the Annual Overbrook Basketball Classic, which will be held the first week of December; and the third is the Annual Spring Dinner and Auction. Monies from these fundraisers helps provide requested teaching materials, tuition assistance, capital improvements and other miscellaneous requests presented to the Executive Council.

Each of these educational, spiritual and social programs, along with our three fund-raisers, would not be a success without the help from all our Overbrook parents. The Executive Council, along with Sister Marie Blanchette, will continue its commitment of excellence to the Overbrook community. This year, parent’s will be able to view a list of volunteer opportunities and be able to sign up on the Overbrook Website.

It will be a great year at Overbrook!

Sincerely,

Cathy Wasyliw
President, Overbrook Parent’s Club
