Overbrook Catholic School is proud to celebrate sixth-grade student Ruthie Cromwell, who captured the DAC Championship title in the 400-meter race on Wednesday, April 8. 

Competing against a field of older athletes, Cromwell outpaced all sixth, seventh- and eighth-grade competitors to secure first place with an impressive time of 63 seconds. 

“Ruthie Cromwell, aka ‘Ruthless,’ is an indefatigable multi-sport athlete who is 100% dedicated to her team,” said Coach Lara Kierlin. “She was All-State in cross country but is also super talented in the long sprints. Her time at the DAC Championships would have placed her fifth in the high school meet—not bad for a sixth grader! She works hard and has a killer instinct on the track as well as on the basketball court—the recipe for making a champion!” 

Cromwell’s standout performance not only earned her the championship title but also highlighted her versatility as a multi-sport athlete and her ability to compete at a level well beyond her grade. 

"It felt really great to beat the older girls because I’ve worked so hard for it, and it showed. Coach K has been a huge part of that. She's a great coach and always supports me and wants me to do well.” 

Cromwell’s victory reflects the strength of Overbrook’s athletic program and the school’s commitment to developing confident, disciplined student-athletes.
