Position: JV volleyball coach
PT/ FT: PT

Qualifications: previous volleyball player or previous volleyball coaching

Responsibilities: The JV volleyball coach will need to conducts practices after school twice a week choosing from Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. During practice, the coach will execute age appropriate drill and scrimmages. The coach will be a positive influence on the players and make the practices and games fun while teaching and coaching.

The coach is required at all games, which are during the week with an occasional weekend game.

Position: Junior High Science Teacher

PT/ FT: Full Time
Level: Grades 6-8

Qualifications: Master’s degree in science or education preferred, bachelor’s degree required with at least 3 years teaching experience in the field of science.

Responsibilities and requirements:

A desire to transmit knowledge and love of science, particularly biology, chemistry and physical science, as well as serve as a role model of faith for junior high students is a must. This position requires hands-on instruction and an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter for junior high science. Overbrook School fosters a STEM environment approach to its science classrooms in particular. The junior high science teacher will be required to provide lessons that reach across all STEM areas including science, technology, engineering and math.


Position: Elementary Teacher
PT/ FT: Full Time
Level: First grade

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, master’s degree preferred, three years of teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of this teaching position is educating students at the first-grade level in all subject areas with a special emphasis on the acquisition of basic reading and math skills. As first grade is a foundational year, the classroom teacher will work with all students on reading skills and strategies, developing key mathematical concepts and developing skills that prepare them for second and third grade. Classroom teachers are also responsible for teaching religion, grammar and phonics, handwriting, science and social studies.


Position: Elementary Teacher

Level: Kindergarten

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, master’s degree preferred, three years of teaching experience preferred.

Position: Elementary Teacher Aide
PT/ FT: Full Time
Level: First-grade teacher’s aide

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in elementary education with three years of teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of this teaching aide position is assisting the lead teacher in educating students at the first-grade level in all subject areas with a special emphasis on the acquisition of basic reading and math skills. Aide will work with two first-grade classroom teachers, providing assistance to both classrooms working with students, performing some clerical duties and helping manage the classroom.


Position: Music teacher (grades prekindergarten-8)/musical director
FT/PT: Full time
Level: Prek-8

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in music required, master’s degree preferred, with at least three years teaching experience as a classroom music teacher. Experience directing choirs and musical numbers preferred.

Responsibilities and requirements:

The primary responsibility of the music teacher is to introduce students to music, but encouraging a love for music is at the core of the job. The music teacher will teach students from prekindergarten to fifth-grade the using the National Standards for Music Education, which aims to teach students to:

  • Sing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
  • Perform on instruments (the recorder in fourth-grade) alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
  • Improvise melodies, variations, and accompaniments.
  • Read music.
  • Listen to, analyze, and describe music.
  • Evaluate music and music performances.
  • Understand relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
  • Understand music in relation to history and culture.
  • Learn and sing various hymns sung at OS Mass.

The music teacher will teach students in sixth to eighth-grade in junior high choir classes, which aim to transmit a knowledge and love of music, especially liturgical music, to students through choral performance.

The music teacher coordinates the following events and programs:

  • Annual Christmas Concert
  • The Spring Musical
  • The Fine Arts Assembly
    • o Coordinates and is the point person for the following committees: costumes, back drop, script/drama.
    • o Works closely with the principal on approvals
    • o Contacts the musicians, sound and light people
    • o Gathers information for the program
    • o Works with the art teacher for the program cover
    • o Selects the stage crew
    • o Selects the theme of the musical and songs for grades 1-5
    • o Works with the junior high choreographer
    • o Choreographs numbers for grades 1-5
    • o Follows up on all things relating to the musical
  • Involvement in Friday Masses and special occasion Masses
  • Involvement in the Advent Mass

Position: Office assistant/receptionist
FT/PT: Full-time (12 month) position

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with at least three years office experience preferred.

Start date: July 1, 2017

Responsibilities and requirements:

One of the primary responsibilities for this position is to be the representative face and voice for Overbrook School, as this person is often the first contact visitors have with Overbrook. The office assistant/receptionist answers all incoming calls to Overbrook as well as welcomes all visitors to the school. This position has a great deal of contact with parents and prospective parents and a professional and friendly demeanor is required.

The office assistant/receptionist is also responsible for designated office duties, which include but are not limited to: coordinating maintenance requests, some secretarial duties for the principal and assistant principal, keeping student attendance records, coordinating the lunch count for the dining hall manager, coordinating emergency procedures for the office, and managing the school calendar and directory.


Position: Communications/marketing specialist

FT/PT: Full time (12 month)

Start date: July 1, 2017

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related field with at least three experience preferred.

Responsibilities and requirements:

The communications-marketing specialist manages marketing and communications initiatives to promote Overbrook School, helps recruit students and informs prospective and current families and donors. The specialist is responsible for writing and editing (using AP Style) press releases, brochures and printed materials, letters and more. The position serves as the social media coordinator, media relations coordinator, photographer and marketing planner. Experience with photography, video and editing, bulk e-mail programs preferred as well as skilled in Word, Photoshop, Excel, and editing and design software. Provides assistance to the admissions director during special events, on tours and communications.


Position: Substitute teachers

PT: Part-time flexible hours

Overbook School is seeking individuals who would like to work as substitute teachers with flexible hours. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and it is preferred that they also have some education experience but not required. Certification or experience in K-4 or 5-8 is beneficial. Position: ExtendedCARE

PT/ FT: Part-time afternoons

Qualifications: Job responsibilities include but are not limited to, supervising outdoor play activities, homework room, computer room, reading stories, and helping with indoor games and art projects. Individuals interested in applying need to have a high school diploma, have experience working with young children, be physically active and are required to submit to a background check.
