St. Cecilia Academy News
The SCA Featured Fine Artist of the Month is Senior, Grace Gacetta. Grace has been dancing for all of her four years here at St. Cecilia Academy, in class and with the Dance Company. Miss Ervin describes her as a "committed and creative student" with a "generous heart and passionate spirit". She cites Grace as someone who leads by example, developing her own ideas and conviction while also encouraging others. Grace welcomes feedback about the pieces she choreographs, and is particularly adept at incorporating the good ideas of others without diminishing her own voice in the process.
In addition to her leadership in the dance department, Grace is very busy offering many hours of community service to Room at the Inn and Relay for Life. She helped to organize an adult prom for people with special needs, is a member of the Ambassador Board, and does all of this while holding a part-time job.
Grace's favorite dance styles are modern and contemporary, and her favorite dancer is Misty Copeland, the first African American woman to be a principal ballerina at the American Ballet Theater.
All told, Grace has been dancing for 14 years, but took a year off at 9 years old to take guitar. She returned straight back to dance the very next year!
Her favorite cereal is Peanut Butter Captain Crunch, and her two dogs are named Chester and Mabel.
