The Overbrook boys junior varsity team won the Nashville Diocesan Athletic Council championship tournament Saturday, Feb. 25 with a 38-17 victory over St. Pius in the finals. The team also finished the season first in the league with a DAC record of 15-2.

"The boys worked extremely hard this season, and I am very proud of their efforts," said Overbrook basketball coach and assistant athletic director Rick Nute. "Not only did they continue to improve each day, but they handled themselves with class the entire season. It was a great season and a blast to coach these young men. To bring a championship to Overbrook was a great way to show the fruits of their labor all season."

The boys finished as regular season champions with a record of 17-11 overall and a 15-2 record for the DAC league, where they are tournament champions.

“I’m so proud of this team. They work hard and have achieved great results,” said Principal Sister Julia Marie, O.P. “The whole school is sharing in the celebration of their championship season.”

Team members include: Nicky Bojczuk, Blake Cathey, Conor Kennard, Matthew McLeod, Michael LeClair, Andrew Romito, Stevie Strickland, Will Ducas, Charlie Perri, and Logan Watts. The junior high hosted a cake party for the team this week to celebrate the victory.

The girls team also had a great season, finishing the regular season with a record of 17-8, fourth in the league. They just missed making it to the final four of the DAC championship tournament by one game.
