The Atrium

Overbrook School roots children in Truth, inspires them to wonder and challenges them to give their best to the world. That’s the promise all faculty and staff make to each other, to their students, and to the larger community. The heart of that promise is found in the sacramental life encouraged at Overbrook.
Overbrook School is home to a beautiful center of teaching the Catholic faith. The Atrium is a classroom in its truest sense; it is a place where students can encounter wisdom, knowledge, and Truth. Students in preschool to 5th grade visit the Atrium as part of their weekly curriculum. Classes that will be receiving Sacraments for the first time have additional instruction in the Atrium and all instruction follows the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Built on the Montessori Method that all knowledge comes through experience, the Atrium offers students a chance to use all their senses as they learn about the Catholic faith. Lower grades visit various stations for art, story, music, play, and small-group activities. Overbrook’s 3rd – 5th graders dive more deeply into the Sacraments and Church teaching.

The Atrium is a treasured part of Overbrook School and we are honored to prepare a place for our students to know God and our faith more deeply.

St. John Paul II

“If we want to help the child grow near to God, we should, with patience and courage… seek to go always closer to the vital nucleus of things. This requires study and prayer. The child himself will be our teacher if we know how to observe him.”
