Overbrook School is a Catholic, coeducational school for grades prekindergarten through eight where children grow and learn through prayer, study, community, and service. A nationally award-winning school, Overbrook was the first Catholic elementary school in Nashville to be named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education. The school is accredited by and a member of the National Catholic Education Association.
Overbrook School’s curriculum challenges children to think critically and master skills in all subject areas. The academic program follows a spiral curriculum which provides constant reinforcement of those skills and allows the students to develop a deeper understanding of the concepts presented. Then, from the knowledge of these foundational truths, other branches of knowledge and learning are formed and deepened.
Overbrook School honored those who served in the United States Armed Forces with their annual Veterans Day Mass and Ceremony on November 13. Led each year by our Fifth Grade students, the program features a moving recitation by our Eagles and talk by a local veteran.
Overbrook School’s ghosts, goblins, characters, and friends welcomed families and neighbors to their inaugural Halloween Car Parade. All treats, the event was a spooky success and a frighteningly good opportunity to celebrate our strong community at Overbrook – and have some Halloween fun along the way.
When Fourth Grade Teacher Caitlin Pearson looked at the weather, she knew a perfect maple tapping lesson was about to take place. The forecast called for rain, a multi-day hard freeze, with warmer days to follow. A recipe of perfect-temperature days would yield superb maple sap harvesting for Overbrook’s fourth grade classes.
Overbrook School announced it received an $8,400 STEM grant from the Toshiba America Foundation. Funds will support Overbrook’s unique Catholic approach to creation-based interactions with technology.
Overbrook School began its 83rd academic year with great fanfare, excitement, and prayers for a fruitful year. Hundreds of students, parents, faculty, and staff welcomed preschool - 8th grade Eagles to Overbrook.
