Student Life

Sacramental Life

Overbrook Catholic School roots children in Truth, inspires them to wonder, and challenges them to give their best to the world. That’s the promise all faculty and staff make to each other, to their students, and to the larger community. The heart of that promise is found in the sacramental life encouraged at Overbrook Catholic School.

We're proud of our strong academics and love the community our students, families, faculty, and staff share and act out that love each week in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Held weekly and open to our families and friends, the Mass is attended by our students, our faculty, and by our volunteer altar servers. We invite you to join us each Friday at 8:00 a.m.

Community prayers begin and end each day at OCS. Through time at our chapel, daily adoration on our campus, in our Atrium, school-wide adoration on the first Friday of every month, and in personal devotion, every student is encouraged to grow and strengthen their relationship with the Lord.

Through the example of the Dominican Sisters of St Cecilia who founded and still operate Overbrook Catholic School school, students are shown how to live by the four pillars of the Dominican charism: prayer, study, community, and preaching.

  • Morning Offering

Heavenly Father, I offer you this day, all that I do and think and say. Uniting it with what was done by Jesus Christ, your only Son. Amen
  • Prayer to St. Dominic

O most holy father, St. Dominic, who always showed yourself loving to all and never despised, wounded or offended anyone, obtain for me from our Savoir, the grace to know and correct my faults, and always be gentle and loving toward my neighbor, pardoning all who injure or offend me. Amen.
  • Glory Be to the Father

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
  • Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace! The Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
  • Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
  • Act Contrition

O My God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you and I detest all my sins because of your just punishments, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of your grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.
  • Prayer to the Guardian Angel

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here; ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

St. John Paul II

"The ways of the Lord are not easy, but we were not created for an easy life, but for great things, for goodness."
